Countries use a variety of approaches to deliver cash transfers to poor and vulnerable groups in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, from bank accounts, mobile money to digital vouchers, physical cash, and other mechanisms. This virtual and interactive seminar presented international experiences on delivering ASP in practice highlighting the challenges and opportunities for the introduction of digital G2P payment mechanisms. The event aimed to: provide a deeper understanding of the role of digital payment mechanisms in the delivery of (adaptive) social protection; highlight the benefits of G2P model of “choice” and derive implications for the design of G2P payment mechanisms; and, showcase and discuss concrete and operational country experiences of operationalizing improved modern G2P payments.
