Disability inclusive social protection

COVID-19 has highlighted the inequality gaps and disempowering structures in all societies, drawing attention to the reality that persons with a disability, in particular, have been living at the intersection of poverty and exclusion for too long. Disability specific expenditures related to essentials such as assistive devices and increased transportation costs are rarely accounted for in social protection responses. The barriers faced by persons with a disability to accessing education, employment, and services in line with the general community, also generate extra costs for them. In each webinar our guest speakers talk about the gaps, the barriers and the opportunities they are seeing to the full inclusion of persons with a disability in social protection responses and accessing services, to ensure their full, dignified and effective participation and inclusion globally.
