The Seguro-Defeso is a contributory social security measure that targets small-scale artisanal fishers in Brazil. After almost 30 years, FAO in partnership with IPC-IG conducted the first impact evaluation of the programme on the socio-economic conditions of the beneficiaries. This event highlighted the key takeaways of the impact evaluation and the programme’s challenges in carrying forward necessary adjustments.
