Universal basic income (UBI) is emerging as a hotly debated issue in social protection. This debate is at an all-time high as countries are considering UBI as part of COVID-19 response packages. Drawing from a book on the subject, this webinar reviewed key issues and evidence on UBI as a social protection measure; identified emerging lessons from a variety of cross-country experiences; and reflected on its potential and limitations as a crisis response as well as longer-term intervention.
