Webinar

18 June 2020

UNICEF, IFRC, DFID, UNHCR

With two-thirds of the forcibly displaced populations worldwide in protracted situations, this webinar, organised together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) aimed to present an overall vision of inclusion in social protection systems via humanitarian and development efforts, where COVID-19 is an additional accelerator, blocker or opens up new opportunities for inclusion. Panellists shared examples from the field, explored funding mechanisms, and offered a look ahead from social assistance to possible labour market interventions that deploy the use of cash. Examples from Mauritania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Brazil were presented.

Panellists:

  • Mamadou Dian Balde, UNHCR, Deputy Director of Division of Resilience of Solutions (Head of the Socio-Economic Inclusion Service)
  • Ferdila Ouattara, Senior Protection Officer, UNHCR Republic of Congo
  • Thais Braga, Project Manager, AVSI Brazil

Moderator: Zehra Rizvi, Grand Bargain cash subgroup on linking SP/HCT, KML Consultant
